Start a vegetable garden that fits your space

Area, light and water: take stock before sowing.

Observe before filling the space

Measure the area actually available for crops. It may be smaller than the whole garden. Note paths, shaded areas, access to water and places that are easy to observe. Choose a few crops you want to use rather than a long list to maintain.

A calendar you can revise

Region provides context, but elevation, exposure and weather change conditions. Permah’s calendar offers editorial reference points and lets you move dates. Frost-sensitive crops need a local check before planting outdoors.

Keep a record

For each experiment, note the date, variety, area and observations. A disappointing result does not prove that your plot is unsuitable: identify a condition to change before trying again.

One first action

Create a garden profile, choose one crop and leave part of the space free. You can revise the project after a first season.
